Seated Draws & Barricades
***BEFORE STARTING ANY DRYFIRE TRAINING, DOUBLE & TRIPLE CHECK THAT YOUR GUNS & MAGAZINES ARE EMPTY. NO LIVE AMMO SHOULD BE IN YOUR TRAINING AREA.***
Pistol
- Trigger Control At Speed, 10 Reps
- Seated Draws, 3 minutes
- Use your concealed carry gear
- Remain seated while drawing
- Work on drawing straight ahead, left, & right
- Trigger discipline is critical here since you may muzzle your legs during a draw to the left or right
- One way you can avoid muzzling yourself while drawing across your body while seated is to rotate the gun’s muzzle horizontal to the floor once it’s clear of the holster
- Reloads, 5 Reps (Goal: 1.5 sec)
- Barricade Leans, 10 Reps (Goal: ~9.0 Sec)
- Setup: See the diagram above; targets should simulate approximately 12 and 24 yards
- On the buzzer, engage Target Array 1 from the left side of the barricade and engage Target Array 2 from the right side of the barricade
- Alternate starting from both sides of the barricade
- Ensure you’re getting the correct sight picture and making the appropriate trigger presses based on target difficult (i.e., don’t just rip off 2 fast shots on the farther targets or right side headbox)
Rifle
- Slow Fire Trigger Control, Standing (simulated 25 yards), 10 Reps
- Try to make these 100% perfect with zero sight movement
- Really pay attention to the tension in your firing hand while pulling the trigger
- Ready-ups (High), 10 Reps (Goal: 0.8 sec)
- Reloads, 5 Reps (Goal: 2.5 sec)
- Barricade Leans, 10 Reps (Goal: ~8.8 Sec)
- As always, ensure you’re actuating the safety as you transition across the barricade.
